The series is set between 1996 and 1998 and is held in Stamford (Lincolnshire). The protagonist is Rachel Earl, told Rae, a 16-year-old boy who has just left the psychiatric hospital where he was hospitalized for four months following a suicide attempt. Returning home, Rae will have to relaunch relationships with her childhood friend Chloe, unaware of all Rae\'s problems, and try to socialize with Chloe\'s group of friends.
